H.C. means hydraulics clutch, the most relevant exclusive feature of this series of drives (actually there are two models: Turbodrive 400 H.C. and Turbodrive 490 H.C.). That’s a multi-disc hydraulic clutch, electrically operated for connecting and disconnecting the water jet’s impeller with engine running. This item and the integrated gear box with really 21 gear rations available allow the perfect matching to the engine while deleting the cost and weight of the marine transmission.
The new water intake and duct design developed after several trials of self propulsion on the special Castoldi laboratory boat of really N. 24 scale models, allowed to develop what is probably the most efficient water jet unit for high speed on the market. It is ideally suited to equip in single and twin installation, fast patrol vessels and sport boats in the 14-18 m and 16-26 tons range.
